Editorial update — September 15, 2026: We removed undated prices and ratings, unsupported taste and digestibility verdicts, and certification claims that were not matched to a current exact-product source. This is research-based buying guidance, not a hands-on taste test or personalized nutrition advice.
Start with dietary fit, then compare the selected package’s label and cost. A product that does not fit your dietary needs is not good value even if its price per scoop is lower.
Choose the comparison that matters
| Question | What to compare | Why it changes the decision |
|---|---|---|
| Which ingredients fit my diet? | Protein source, allergens and flavour-specific ingredients | A product name alone cannot establish suitability |
| How much protein am I buying? | Protein per serving × number of servings | Tub weight includes ingredients other than protein |
| What is the comparable cost? | Delivered price per serving and per equal amount of protein | Scoop sizes vary between products |
| Do I need verified sport certification? | Exact current product in the certifier’s directory | A brand-wide claim is not sufficient |
PVL ISOGOLD

This is an isolate-focused option in the original shortlist. Check the current ingredient list and protein amount for the exact flavour and size. We have removed an unsupported overall-quality verdict and blanket digestibility and banned-substance testing claims. A label or current certifier entry is needed to establish those details.

Mutant Whey

Compare the selected whey-blend label and the delivered cost per serving. A lower tub price does not establish value if the serving count differs. We have not taste-tested this product and have removed the previous taste and automatic best-value claims.
Vega Protein + Recovery

Vega’s Canadian manufacturer page identifies Protein + Recovery as the renamed Vega Sport Premium Protein, and lists 30 g plant-based protein per serving. This provides a useful starting point for shoppers seeking a plant-based option. Match the flavour and package label, including allergens, to your needs.

PVL ISO Sport Whey

Compare the current nutrition panel and ingredient list with the other whey options. Terms such as “clean” do not quantify a nutritional advantage. We have removed the automatic cutting recommendation and unsupported performance ranking; individual diet needs determine suitability.

Two price calculations that prevent a misleading comparison
Cost per serving = delivered tub cost ÷ labelled servings. An illustrative C$60 tub with 30 servings costs C$2 per serving. A C$45 tub with 15 servings costs C$3 per serving. The cheaper tub has the higher serving cost.
Cost for an equal amount of protein = delivered tub cost ÷ total grams of protein in the tub × comparison amount. Suppose the first example has 25 g protein in each of 30 servings: 750 g total, or C$2 per 25 g protein. If another C$60 tub has 20 servings at 30 g protein, it has 600 g total, or C$2.50 per 25 g protein. These are fictional worked examples, not product prices or intake recommendations.
Use the unit-price calculator with total protein grams as the quantity for each tub. Keep the unit the same. Include shipping in the entered price if it differs between sellers.
Do not count a different flavour as an extra winner
A different ISOGOLD flavour or larger package is a variant to compare, not an independent best-grass-fed product. Check its own label, serving count and price. A larger tub only saves money if you will use it and its comparable cost is lower.
What this guide cannot tell you
We have not measured taste, mixability, digestion or athletic outcomes. Manufacturer information does not establish that one powder is best for every reader. A clinician or registered dietitian can help with dietary or medical suitability; this shopping comparison does not set a daily protein target.
Frequently asked questions
Which option is plant-based?
Vega’s linked Canadian page describes Protein + Recovery as plant-based. Still check your selected package’s ingredients and allergen information.
Is the cheapest tub the best value?
No. Compare equivalent servings or equal protein amounts, then account for dietary fit, taste preferences and whether you will finish the package.
Why are the old star ratings gone?
The previous figures were not accompanied by a dated, seller- and variant-matched source. Current retailer reviews can inform your research, but they are not DealScanOn test scores.
